A musical meeting and conversation about the life and works of Frédéric Chopin together with pianist Agnese Egliņa, and a screening of the film “Impromptu” (Impromptu, 1991).
Impromptu is a 1991 period drama. The film is directed by James Lapine, written by Sarah Kernochan, and stars Hugh Grant and Judy Davis.
Composer Frédéric Chopin lives in France and his health is gradually deteriorating. Baroness Amantine Lucille Aurora Dupin, who writes novels under the pseudonym George Sands, admires Chopin from afar and plans her meeting with the composer. After being advised to stay away from Chopin, the baroness nevertheless appears at a social event, which Chopin attends despite his ill health. Although Chopin tries to resist the Baroness’s charms, he is intrigued by a love letter written by an unknown suitor.

The event is suitable for high school students and adults.
The duration of the event is 2 hours 30 minutes.
The film will be shown in English with subtitles in Latvian.
