On 13 July, at the “Night Concert”, Julian Joseph Trio (Julian Joseph, piano, Mark Mondesir, percussion, Mark Hodgson, double bass) will perform with a programme of jazz music. Julian Joseph is one of the most influential British jazz musicians, known as a pianist, composer and arranger.
“The most important jazz musician this country has produced in many years, possibly ever,” says the British weekly, The Stage, about Joseph.
He was the first black British jazz musician to lead a series of concerts at Wigmore Hall in London and the first to open the prestigious BBC Proms with his All-Star Big Band as headliner. He has built an outstanding reputation as a performer and composer as well as received recognition as a highly knowledgeable and engaging anchorman, music ambassador and advocate of culture. Julian Joseph has composed works for solo piano, small ensembles, big band and symphony orchestras. During his career, he has received major commissions from the BBC, Hackney Music Development Trust, City of London Festival and London Jazz Festival.
Joseph never ceases to inspire with his mastery of the keyboard, versatility of musicality and boundless creative imagination. In the “Night Concert” at Dzintari Concert Hall, the charismatic musicians of the Julian Joseph Trio will perform a selection of the most beautiful standards from the jazz classics, as well as original compositions of Joseph himself.
