“International Opera Stars”. The gala concert

The gala concert “International Opera Stars” in Dzintari concert hall on June 29, 2023.

Approximate duration of the concert: 2 hours 30 minutes

In Latvia, as the cultural center of Northern Europe, on June 29, the second international concert of young opera singers will take place in Dzintari concert hall, accompanied by a symphony orchestra, and conducted by Mārtiņš Ozoliņš. The first concert in Latvia took place in August 2017 at the Latvian National Opera. Ten soloists participated in the concert, and it has a great success.

All seven young soloists who will take the stage on June 29, 2023, are scholarship holders of the SIAA-foundation from the Principality of Liechtenstein. They will delight the audience by performing the most popular opera classics – famous arias and D. Verdi, W.A. Mozart, V. Bellini, D. Rossini, Zh. Bizet, G. Donizetti, D. Puccini, I. Strauss, and other world opera classics. They are Romanas Kudriashova (baritone, Lithuania), Inma Hidalgo (soprano, Spain), David Jagodic (tenor, Slovenia), Cassandra Wyss (soprano, Liechtenstein), Sreten Manojlovic (bass-baritone, Serbia), Valerio Borgioni (tenor, Italy) and Eglė Wyss (Sidlauskaite) (mezzo soprano, Lithuania).

The name of the charity foundation “Sic itur ad astra (SIAA)-foundation” (“That’s how we go to the stars”) also perfectly matches its mission – to guide and popularize young opera singers, providing all kinds of support in their professional musical development.

For young opera singers who are confident and determined to move up the opera career ladder, the charity foundation “SIAA foundation” helps organize concerts with the participation of world-famous conductors and symphony orchestras in the most popular concert halls around the world. So, for example, concerts and performances by scholarship holders have taken place in Milan’s Grand Verdi Hall (2022), Waidhofen an der Thaya Stadtsaal in Austria (2021) and Malaga’s Teatro Cervantes (2022). In 2022, in Korea, a concert was held at the Seongnam Art Center under the direction of conductor Daniel Agiman. Many scholarship holders of the charity foundation continue to delight the audience by performing on the world’s leading opera stages. For example, mezzo-soprano Egle Wyss performed the role of Venus in Richard Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser at Tokyo’s New National Theater last year.

The young artists are interesting, promising and at the same time professionals who give concerts in the most famous opera houses around the world. Among the participants are winners of such well-known competitions as Placido Domingo’s “Operalia”, BBC “Voice of Cardiff”. At the gala, the artists of the concert represent various European opera houses.

Opera and symphonic music admirers will find this concert very satisfying.
