About the program:
“Soloists needed!” – this is what the Riga Saxophone Quartet thought when creating a concert program dedicated to the pearls of Latvian theater and cinema music, and for cooperation they approached the vocally gifted actors of the Latvian National Theater Raimonds Celms and Līga Zeļģe, who have proven themselves brilliantly not only on theater stages, but also on the big screens. The concert will feature excerpts from internationally acclaimed film scores – Lolita Ritmanis’s soundtrack for the war drama “Blizzard of Souls” and the music written by Rihards Zaļupe for the ambitious feature film “The Pagan King”. Likewise, the works of Zigmars Liepiņš, Mārtiņš Brauns, Imants Kalniņš, Raimonds Pauls, Jānis Lūsēns and other composers, who are associated with such legendary films as “Theater”, “Soloist needed” and “Four white shirts (Breathe deeply)” or for the theater performances “Kaupēns, my dear”, “Sensation”, “Resourceful babysitter” and several others.
