A literary-musical composition by Gundars Āboliņš and Andrejs Osokins, in which music and poetry, the sound of the piano and the human voice form a dialogue that leaves a unique impression on the audience.
In its first part, piano music by Ukrainian and Latvian composers will be played, interspersed with poetry from the new collection “Unplayed Texts” by musician and emotion collector Ainārs Knešs. Andrejs Osokins will play the piano music of Jānis Mediņš, Jāzeps Vītols, Ādolfs Skulte, Volfgangs Dārziņš, Valentyn Silvestrov and new piano improvisations specially prepared by the pianist himself for each “Games of the Senses”. In the second part of the composition there will be a peculiar musical-literary correspondence between the romantic, gorgeous and temperamental piano music pearls of the German composer Robert Schumann and Jānis Grots cycle of poems “Peer Gynt’s letters to Solveig”.
The first meeting on stage between Gundars Āboliņš and Andrejs Osokins took place in the summer of 2023 during the Osokins Freedom Festival for Ukraine, when the two artists created the program “Games of the Senses” with the poetry of Ainārs Knešs. In cooperation with the “Ola Foundation”, this idea is enriched with the romantic piano music of R. Schumann and the poetry of Jānis Grots, and it continues its way to audiences throughout Latvia.
