Film “Amadeus” with Vestards Šimkus

A musical gathering and conversation about the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with pianist Vestards Šimkus, followed by a screening of the film Amadeus (1984).

Amadeus is a 1984 American film directed by Miloš Forman. The screenplay, written by Peter Shaffer, is based on his 1979 stage play of the same name.

The film tells the story of Mozart and his rivalry with Antonio Salieri. It stars F. Murray Abraham, Tom Hulce, Elizabeth Berridge, Simon Callow, Roy Dotrice, Christine Ebersole, Jeffrey Jones, and Charles Kay.

Amadeus received 11 Academy Award nominations and won 8 Oscars, including Best Picture. F. Murray Abraham, who portrayed Salieri, won the award for Best Actor, while Tom Hulce, who played Mozart, was nominated in the same category.
