Artists:
Jānis Lūsēns
Zigfrīds Muktupāvels
Evija Mundeciema
Jānis Ozols, concert host
This concert will feature songs composed by Jānis Lūsēns, written specifically for the distinctive voice of Zigfrīds Muktupāvels. Thanks to the exceptional collaboration between these two artists, these songs have found a special place in the hearts and memories of the audience.
The concert cycles by these two artists have earned unwavering love from listeners, reaffirming that the meeting of Jānis Lūsēns and Zigfrīds Muktupāvels in life and music is no coincidence. Recently, the duo has been performing either as a pair or in small ensembles, showcasing Jānis Lūsēns’ vocal chamber music.
For the past five years, the composer and his wife, flutist Evija Mundeciema, have been living and creating at Jānis Lūsēns’ music house, Ozolu Skola, in Zvārtava Parish. This house is home to Lūsēns’ collection of musical instruments, and guests are treated to meditative improvisations, enjoyed in an unconventional way—reclining in lounge chairs. The February 2 concert will also include a glimpse into the music of Ozolu Skola, performed by Evija and Jānis.
